Fourth Leg:
Oregon to Montana

We left behind Oregon and our campsite on the flanks of Mt. Hood.

The Columbia River Gorge awed us once again and we were equally
impressed by the heat of Eastern Oregon and Washington.

We caught up with our friends Nia, Matt and Trooper in Bozeman, MT.

We were remiss and didn't get a photo of our friend Lee in Helena, MT,
but did catch these two dogs hanging out in a pickup at the post office.

Our final visit was with JJ's dad at this fishing shack outside of Craig, MT.

We stayed at the Summit campground on the southern border of Glacier NP,
just off Rt 2 and a busy transcontinental railroad.

We followed the signs to these Mountain Goats shaded by an overpass.

Glacier was the first to impress us with the rugged peaks
of the Rockies and blue waters laden with silt.

We climbed the Going to the Sun Road from West to East
and dodged a few clouds and rain showers.

The road climbed and narrowed and we wondered at the
engineering and hubris involved with putting a road here.

It was a landscape clearly shaped by glaciers ... imagine that.

The Going to the Sun Road reached its peak at Logan Pass and
we were dismayed by the throngs of people at the
visitors center so we continued down the Eastern side.

The storms clouds gathered and thunder echoed in the mountains
as we descended to the East side and our campsite for the night.

We still made a few stops to admire the forces of water and ice, some still at work.

We did get good enough sunshine to admire the
wonderful blue of the lakes and rivers in the park.

We were surrounded by wildflowers at Cut Bank Campground on the
eastern edge of the park and took some time to smell the flowers.
